A portion of the proceeds of this book will go to El Futuro, a nonprofit outpatient clinic that provides comprehensive mental health services for Latino families in a bilingual environment of healing and hope.

This book won a Campoy-Ada Award, or National Award for Children's and Young People’s Literature in the Spanish Language, a prize established to recognize the merit of works of children's literature written in the Spanish language by citizens or residents of the United States and named in honor of F. Isabel Campoy and Alma Flor Ada, writers who dedicated their careers to advancing the Spanish language in U.S. It is sponsored by the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE).
